New family with their IVF miracle baby

Having children is a dream for many people, but for some, it can be a long and difficult journey. Which also leads me to questioning what’s in our food and environment that’s causing such trouble with fertility; but that’s a blog post for another day.

After years of tests, pokes, ultrasounds, procedures, and being told that we had “unexplained infertility”, my husband and I decided to try IUI…four times actually. Each time was met with anxious hope and excitement and then each time was unsuccessful. To make matters worse, there's no infertility insurance for the majority of people in California, as many reading this may know. We depleted our bank accounts trying to start a family. I went to a dark place mentally. Every new pregnancy announcement by a friend sent me spiraling. I yearned for a baby, a family, a reason to have a place in the world. The next step was doing IVF but it was so expensive. We have good jobs but didn’t have that kind of money laying around. Especially after IUI multiple times already.

Despite the financial burden, we decided to borrow some money and try IVF. I was heartbroken but determined. The IVF process was definitely a journey. Somehow I went from practically fainting at the thought of needles to giving myself daily injections. Nevertheless we were incredibly blessed to have 15 blastocyst embryos, and after grading them, us and the doctor decided to put in just one. We had the option of doing multiple but I was scared. That's when baby Sailor (SaySay) was conceived. Errr, created? We're very grateful to have had a successful IVF implantation and pregnancy the first time. We know how lucky we (of the unlucky 1 in 9) are and continue praying for those struggling with infertility infinitely.

First egg retrieval; 26 mature eggs, 21 fertilized, 15 blastocyst, and the transfer date!

SaySay is now the love of our lives, but she desperately wants a brother or sister. We’ve tried IVF three more times, maxing out credit cards, but unfortunately, all three attempts have been unsuccessful. It looks like we won't be able to give her a sibling, which breaks our hearts. However, we’re determined to give her everything else in the world we can. She’s our miracle, she’s Moms bestie and Dads whole world. This is The Krambeck Family journey, and we’re grateful for every moment we have as a family of three.
